this is one of my recent favorites, i love how the kids are so innocent and carefree – i bet malia won’t be running shirtless on the beach next summer.

district 9 is set in south africa (hence the biltong 
) and apart from being the best sci-fi movie in a long time is an anthropologist’s dream.
i bet you’ll be seeing D9 in college courses for years to come…
i highly recommend that you go and see this movie but not before you have read chris mundell’s review of district 9…
Holy [mad] cow! Apparently back in the day, if you angered the pope, you risked getting cursed.
The PDF below is a scan of the papal curse levied against my family. The full text is well worth the read, it is an irate rant that makes Alpha Catholic Stephen Colbert’s finger wagging look like a baby tickle*. 
If you have a short attention span (unlike the pope’s chief curse writer) skip ahead to the more visceral details two thirds down in the second paragraph. I did not expect the pope to use the word “shitting” but apparently he was irate and wanted to cover all the bases…

last night as i was catching up on items in my rss reader I discovered this magical photo that trevor young had posted on his blog.
the photo is of maddie on a ride during the recent fiesta festivities in santa barbara.
i don’t normally do this but trevor is not one to let compliments stick so i figured that i’d make a permanent public record of the fact that i think this photo is absolutely amazing!

Today Chris received the CMYK proof for the cover of his new book due out at the end of this month!
The book includes guest chapters authored by some of the most amazing photographers alive today including Rodney Smith, Joyce Tenneson, John Sexton, Steve McCurry, Joe Curren and, erm…, Greg Lawler!
It is humbling and crazy as an amateur photographer to have the opportunity to be a part of this project with Chris and all these iconic photographers, I can’t wait to have the book in hand!
