this is ryan.
he turned 21 the other day which means that he can legally buy the interesting combo of beer and handguns.
this was taken up at the camino cielo "unofficial" shooting range above santa barbara where people regularly combine beer and guns...

  • Nice shot, nice moment too, I really like the bullet flying (where's the smoke? :D)

In a subject point of view i feel this shot terrific. Beer and Guns as gifts are not so cool for me ;)

  • very nice.

the glass factory, as that range is often called, can be one scary place. lots of cheap beer and firearms roaming the site with absolutely no regulation or suppervision.

regardles, or maybe because if my knowledge of this place, i love the picture. and all the black and white lately makes me suggest you get that new nikon f6. all the fancy plus film. looks like you need one.

  • Terrific shot indeed. But it's a photographer duty to show us the world as it is...

  • ... a scary and relevant photographic comment on the shooting in Goleta last week ...

  • The bullet in the air makes the shot for me. I'm not sure what was meant by "show us the world as it is", though, Jonas. Is this somehow a fake version of reality?

  • Stunning capture with the casing being launched out of the chamber. Very well shot, you have really captured the mood in your words here.

  • Oh my god. Your statement to this shot gave my shivers. Scary as all hell to me. Guess that's the canadian in me coming out. I just can't believe the "internal arms race" going on in the states. It's like a mini version of the USSR vs. USA race. "Well, they have guns, so we need to protect ourselves." I have difficulty understanding how the government can't seem to make the link between guns and violence. Weird. Either way, this is a great capture...
