NIKON D200

i was realy struck by the far away look in this women's eyes.
a few minutes after i took this photo we made eye contact and chatted a bit.
(her daughter was with her and happens to be a great photographer...)
one of the benefits of taking up photography has been all the new friends that i have made.

on another note, ever since i watched steven spielberg's beautifully shot munich, i have developed an afinity for washed out images...

  • Wow, what a story. I'm struck by connection you made with just a few words. That's something I often think about: as a photograher, by virtue of the medium and technology, I often place myself as an outside observer, never connecting with "the subject". I this case (in my opinion), your connection has enriched your shot with adding more story than simply meets the eye. I'm reminded of Ryan's work at the Snowsuit Effort... Nice shot

  • Great capture, the washed out background really brings the focus onto her face.

  • is that your new camera? Nikon D200?

  • I am envious of your ability to meet people like that. This is a great image. She is either concentrating on not burning her lips, or she's wondering why a strange person is pointing a camera at her...
